|This dark, semi-swank, multi-level restaurant and night spot is big on live jazz, wine, and good food. As for the espresso, it's a mixed bag that can run from average to worse. Using a two-group Elektra Maxi, they pull a large-sized shot. And while it almost fills the cup completely, somehow they manage not to over-extract it into something watery and without crema (though, inconsistently, it can come without much of any crema). Sure, it still has an ashiness to its flavor with a bitter edge. But somehow it supports a decent layer of medium brown crema (when available). Thus the scores for this cup might not seem to match what you'd expect based on other (ashy) attributes.
