|A typical Richmond District caf - low key, cheap espresso, simple art on the walls, and many small tables. Right next door to a Russian deli at that. There are also two small outdoor tables on the corner. Using a two-group La Pavoni, they serve a moderate amount of espresso with a bare, pale crema in a rather large paper cup. But rather than being ashy or bitter (and they've been using Boyd Coffee Company beans of Portland since 2001), it has a rather smooth, mellow flavor for espresso - some mild clove touches but a mild blend of cedar and other spice-like flavors. So although it lacks potency, it has some pleasant aspects.
