|The Nordstrom department store has a number of in-store espresso bars across the country. This kiosk happens to be on the first floor plaza level of the S.F. Shopping Centre with a few tables for seating just behind it. Using an older, two-group La Marzocco, they pull a larger-sized espresso shot with a thicker layer of blonde crema. They pour it directly into ceramic demitasses rather than tin cups, and then into your double-walled paper cup. It has an almost candy-like smell. Yet the flavor is mostly tobacco, with a little too much ashiness and barely a hint of any sweetness to the cup. It also runs on the thin side.
