|Once a bright, hotel corner caf that opened as Caf 299 around 2002. It closed in December 2004 and reopened in July 2005 as yet another Starbucks with very limited seating and little sunlight. Three indoor tables. Staffed by the same people who ran Caf 299 - by those who need a fully-automated espresso machine (just replace their Schaerer with dual Verismo machines). But while most super-automatic machines automate mediocrity, this location automates inferiority. They serve espresso with a scant hint of several large-bubbles that I believe is supposed to be crema. The flavor is dark and ashy with no real body. An espresso vending machine would be far better. And yet the place is often packed with long, winding lines.
