|Organic caf emphasizes sandwiches and soup (avoid the crab bisque!), but expanded their coffee offerings in the summer of 2004. By 2010 they switched from Thanksgiving Coffee to Four Barrel. Upscale fast food interior with several quality tables. An additional five sidewalk tables in better weather. They serve espresso from a Mr. Espresso two-group Faema E91 - first working in Aug. 2004 after being nothing more than a conversation piece for 6 months. Served hot with a thin layer darker crema, which had been thinner and paler until they took their coffee more seriously a few years ago. The quality has varied here - and fortunately for the better in recent times. In its early days, it had more of a thinner body and a bolder drip-coffee-like flavor, coming from a larger pour. Now the crema is often fuller. But what became a balanced, blended, and even creamy flavor with their Thanksgiving beans has become more of a tobacco and spice taste, with some pungency and hints of ash. They've since offered classic brown ACF cups in addition to paper. Still, the shot size is too large: filled to the rim of the cup, impacting body. They also use Strauss milk, and their milk frothing is generally adequate - if not only deliberate.
