|Large bakery with a bold paint scheme, modern lighting, many indoor tables and photography exhibits. Two outdoor tables. A change in ownership in 2005 saw only slight improvements in their espresso. No longer served from Peerless beans and a La Pavoni machine into gargantuan "Fiestaware" coffee cups, they now use Vigal beans, a La Spaziale machine, and serve espresso in unusual Churchill ceramic cups. The crema volume has diminished somewhat, but what's there is darker brown and slightly better than most places. They lost most of the bitter flavor under the previous management, and the body has bulked up a little. The cup now tastes of a darker, tobaccoey roast with a little grit and only a touch of ashiness.
