|Upper-end, European-styled caf is often crowded with well-heeled tourists toting shopping bags from nearby designer stores. Dark marble floors and dark interior, with walls covered in framed art posters. Solid caf tables and a great deal of plastic alleyway seating with parasols. Overpriced (but quality) antipasti, sandwiches, and salads - and espresso. Yet cash only. Open bags of Mr. Espresso beans empty into grinders, but their baristas do not grind to order - grinding in batch ahead of time. Espresso is served with a thin layer of a richer, medium brown crema. Flavor of wood, spice, and cloves comes through what is mostly an average-to-decent cup. But beware your seating: due to the crowds, on cool days the staff can be table Nazis who will ask you to sit outdoors if you try to save your espresso for ordering after your meal.
