|Since 1961, this downtown convenience store has survived on the "convenience" part, but not much else. There's no seating in this dark cubby hole stocked with baked goods, and the less time inside the better. The cashier/barista stores the Rancilio portafilters cold and on top of the machine. Espresso is served with a foul drip aroma. And, not surprisingly, a foul drip flavor: very thin body, crude pepper-like flavor. With a quickly-disappearing pale ring of crema. Bad sign: when the staff look puzzled that you'd like to drink their espresso straight and without sugar.
