|This location was always heavy on downtown catering (many morning carts in dispatch) and light on seating. In recent years, they split the storefront between the Focaccia Grill (sit-down service) and the what's now the Focaccia Market-Bakery (no seating). The latter offers decent-looking baked goods and espresso and has taken on that Briazz look of prepared, pre-wrapped lunch items. Using a four-group Rancilio, often with multiple portafilter handles cooling in the drip tray, the very slow espresso bar service here pulls relatively large shots and pours them at the bottom of a large, Peerless-branded paper cup. (They switched from Caff Umbria to Peerless Coffee in recent years.) It has virtually no crema and an ashy odor. Not surprisingly, it also has a rather ashy flavor - though there's a sweeter finish that redeems it slightly. The espresso here is quite inconsistent, with variances typically in body and crema quality.
