|Wow - another Peet's chain store. Who could have imagined? True, unlike some chain stores, the Peet's here encourages teal-haired baristas. While Peet's may have converted from a bean & leaf to a retail beverage shop decades ago, you wouldn't notice that here given the great dearth of seating options. There's a huge wall of merchandising, but only a short bench for two in front with about a half-dozen caf tables spread throughout the entire store - it can barely seat a baseball lineup. They also offer metal caf tables and chairs along West Portal Ave. in front, however. Using a three-group La Marzocco Linea, they serve espresso properly short shot with a medium brown, relatively even crema. It's practically a single sip shot, yet it has a good balance with a somewhat muted personality beyond the usual herbal elements, spices, and some wood flavor notes. Served in a non-descript white demitasse by request.
