|Taking over for the former Deli De Leon in this space, this Turkish-influenced caf and coffee shop opened in early 2015 within a renovated space. Located among the row of bail bonders across the street of the SF "Glamour Slammer", you'd expect a lot of the customers to be city/county staffers seeking convenience. That's still pretty much true, but they took on a serious interest with Mr. Espresso coffee. Breakfast, sandwiches, kebabs, and salads. There are multiple tables inside with walls curiously decorated with various small mammal bones. Using a two-group Faema Due at the counter, with Turkish coffee serving cups on display, they pull an espresso as a full doppio shot with a textured darker brown crema. It looks slightly richer than its thickness supports. It has a taste of pungent leaves and herbs. It's not a bad espresso, but the body and the flavor range drops out surprisingly. With practice they should get better.
