|A dessert caf founded in 2008 by mother & daughter team Sandy & Liz Hawrylo. The idea was to make treats of local, organic, blah blah blah ingredients that "grandma used to make" -- which presumes your grandma made frozen yogurt. (And rice pudding.) This is their first location, and it's a tight space with a front window-side counter that seats about 4-6 tops and a front sidewalk bench. Otherwise there's no seating to be had. The staff are exceptionally friendly, and not just to children. Using a three-group La Marzocco Linea behind the counter, they pull shots of slightly large size with deliberate care and precision. Their "Bare Espresso" comes with an even medium brown, creamy crema, a balanced Blue Bottle flavor of some spices and herbalness with a little smoke (they use Blue Bottle's Hayes Valley Espresso blend). Despite paper cups only here, it's an enjoyable shot.
