|Two young chefs started this neighborhood restaurant as a pop-up on the north face of Bernal Hill. Their successful use of the space soon lead to a full-time operation by 2013. Inside there are wooden tables, chairs, and floors in an older, corner restaurant space with character. Some of the place's character is retained on the walls from its previous incarnations. In addition to solid food, they pull shots of Mr. Espresso using a single-group Faema Enova A/1 machine at the center service bar. The resulting shot has a tiger-striped, healthy looking medium-brown crema. It's boldly aromatic and concentrated as a modest shot in almost the perfect serving vessel for it - which turns out to be narrow Turkish-made cups from IKEA. It has a robust, round pungency with slight hints of tobacco and some spice. Some of the best Mr. Espresso espresso we've had in a restaurant.
