|Opening in Nov. 2013, the owners of the highly successful La Ciccia nearby - Massimiliano Conti and Lorella Degan - expanded into this space (formerly Ceces Closet) to serve as more of a wine bar with casual eats. The menu here still needs a bit of work to make sense, but the wine comes as a high concept themed around Italy's foggy wine growing regions, such as the Po River Valley. The name "La Nebbia" references this fog, as well as SF's, and the wine list is divided between the Po's West and East banks. (The nebbiolo grape, of West bank Barolo and Barbaresco fame, also evokes the name of this place.) There are no reservations here, and the tables are divided into counter stools and smaller dining spaces. Barista bar none Lorella may often be at the helm, but the GIME Vera single-group pod espresso machine limits the potential here. They serve shots with an even brown, thinner crema in Portioli IPA designer cups. For pod coffee, it has a more rounded flavor than you might expect with a softer palate centered around herbal pungency.
