|Owned and staffed by Russian-accented staff, this storefront is oddly split in half between two entrances. Limited counter seating, and a sidewalk bwnch, but this is predominantly a walk-up, paper cup business. Using a three-group La Marzocco Alinea from Pacific Espresso (which replaced their old Rio), they produce an espresso with a decent crema. It's a mottled medium-to-light brown and somewhat thick (with the Rio they got a darker brown, richer, and more even crema). Tobaccoy, woody flavor with a slightly burnt edge. A surprisingly decent espresso. The improvements they have made is that the flavor is now less ashy than before. But they could make a cup with a shorter pour, more body, and a darker crema.
