|This fresh pasta and pizza joint has been a hot ticket in the neighborhood ever since it opened - even if there are similar places of similar quality located throughout SF. Inside there's a dedicated wine bar with a somewhat eclectic selection of Italian wines. The interior is dark, with dark woods and lit candles, music by Radiohead knockoffs, and staff sporting a very 2003-ish level of tattoos and piercings. In the center of the long, tall-ceilinged dining area is a station with a two-group La San Marco in the middle. There the staff exhibit careful and deliberate barista skills to pull shots of espresso with a slightly thin, even surface of medium brown crema. It has a somewhat meek body and a mixed flavor of pungent herbs and some tobacco. Served in classic brown Nuova Point cups with grossly clumpy brown sugar on the side to dissuade you from any condiments in your coffee.
