|This tiny restaurant is run by Dennis Leary, who has something of a loyal, local following - and who also runs the also very small Sentinel caf. There's seating at the counter and only three four-person booths, a tiny kitchen, a short menu, and a lot of raw wood surfaces. The food is quite good, although some SFers believe it is more transcendent than it deserves. They have a single-group Elektra machine behind the counter, and they often leave the portafilter handle cooling in the drip tray. But the staff here will take deliberate care in tamping and twisting their tampers on ground-to-order Mr. Espresso beans. They serve it as a modest-sized shot with a medium brown, even crema that sits shallow in a deep, large coffee cup. It has a pungent flavor of some cloves and spice. Respectable for restaurant espresso, and reasonably priced.
