|This small, stand-up caf is little more than an enclosed kiosk inside the Embassy building, across the hall from the Embassy Hotel and across Polk St. of the former CCA offices. They offer a simple selection of coffee and tea and little else. There's a ledge for leaning up against the front windows while you have your sip, but that's it: stand-up service only. Using a two-group Faema, they pull slightly large shots of espresso with a medium brown crema of decent thickness and texture with a little pattern to it (a healthy sign). The body is a touch watery for the decent crema, reflective of the size of the pour. It tastes mostly of pepper and some spices, and is generally served on the hot side in paper cups.
