|This BART station kiosk was previously the exclusive domain of a transit ticket booth, which now spares space at the back. In the underground entrance of this BART station, a few lines form of commuters either too desperate for a quick espresso or too clueless to find a real Peet's above ground (this kiosk is just a Peet's licensee - just as in SFO airport). It opened in the summer of 2008 with some controversy, given that BART supported its introduction and yet BART allows no beverages on board. Like a typical Peet's licensee, they serve espresso from single-group superautomatic Schaerer Ambiente machines, dumping the result in a small paper cup. However, it comes here without the SFO airport prices: prices are relatively normal. Surprisingly, the espresso was quite decent. It has a medium to darker brown crema of modest thickness, and a richer, pungent flavor of cloves and other herbals plus some smokiness. Surprising, really.
