|The 2011 Time Out food awards named this the best independent restaurant in India, and you can mostly see why. Sure, they get into the molecular gastronomy gimmickry, but it's done well. And a Spanish restaurant in India? Who knew? Located at the back of the Estate building (noted for the Tanishq jewelers in front), this restaurant has a modern decor with an honest bar and several dining tables. Using a two-group Astoria in back, they pull a consistently proper shorter espresso shot that's potent while not being syrupy. This much of their training shows through, even if they are using Spencer's Retail beans. Their espresso comes with a simple medium brown, even, somewhat thin crema and its flavor can vary from a balance of mild spice and herbal pungency to one weighted more singularly without the spice notes. Served in Luzerne New Bone cups. A solid restaurant espresso anywhere, but surprising for a Spanish-themed restaurant in Bangalore. Rs 90 for a single.
