|This popular downtown Palo Alto café serves mostly as a meeting place, but it's also a coffeehouse and serves full-on meals. It has tall ceilings and an open façade that opens out to café table seating along University Ave. Inside are many tables and chairs - plus a San Franciscan roaster they use for coffee roasting on the premises. They use a three-group La Spaziale - often with the handles left cooling out of the group heads - but the shots they serve with it aren't terrible. They serve them short - two sips - in a standard coffee cup. The serving temperature can run a little cool, but it has a patchy medium brown crema of decent thickness. It has a smooth body and a mellow, rounded, blended flavor of mild tobacco and some spice. A bit old school, but done relatively well.
