|One of the many notable restaurants quietly growing out of Oakland. This one - like many of its siblings - is heavy on the local fresh organics, wood tables, and paper menus. Plus odd things like a candle fetish. There are numerous, packed, plain tables inside. At the front bar is a two-group La Marzocco Linea. They pull espresso shots with a mottled medium and lighter brown crema, served in a glass shotglass. They serve it properly short, though it has a flavor that isn't as potent as you might otherwise expect. There's minimal creaminess to the shot despite its modest layer of crema, and it has a more narrow flavor profile of herbal and some medicinal elements. Served with a shotglass of sugar on the side, should you need it. Some good decisions, but the execution is a little off.
