|This installment of the Iron Chef Morimoto chain of high-end Japanese restaurants opened in 2010. In front it sits along the revamped Main Street row, across from the town prison. At the front entrance is a café and deli of semi-ridiculous seafoods and meat cuts. There sits a glowing, two-group La Marzocco FB/80. And the restaurant goes back, deep, all the way to an outdoor deck overlooking the Napa River and the "real" Napa across the way of motocycle shops, etc. They serve espresso shits with a textured, rich-looking medium brown crema of modest thickness. However, the espresso body and flavor potency don't live up to the looks of the crema at all. It has a mellow, timid flavor of mild spices and any real vigor or statement. Could there be some staleness to the bean storage? Hard to say, but it's clear the curse of the underwhelming Equator Estate retail restaurant coffee strikes again. Served in teardrop-shaped Vitraluxe cups and saucers.
