|This restaurant is a large, classy Italian place in touristy Sausalito, founded by the same guy behind the original Il Fornaio chain. It has curved ceilings and detailing of dark wood and white paint. Spot flourescent lighting, an Italian-themed food and wine menu, and one of the few places in town that is busy late. Using a three-group Faema E91 Ambassador at the bar, they once pulled espresso shots with a pale whisp of a light brown crema served on a larger pour in classic brown Nuova Point cups. However, our more recent visits noted a much better quality shot. The barista tends to pre-ground in batch, and the size of the pour might result in a cup with a consistency and flavor of filter drip coffee rather than espresso: diluted mild spice and pepper. While it has been watered down and highly disappointing in the past, it's also come with a more textured crema, a still relatively thin body, but a more espresso-like flavor. Erratic.
