|Of the 18 top coffee bars in Gambero Rosso's annual list, this is the only one that has been on the list for five years running. They offer many specialties of Il Roero region: sweets, gelato, candies, pastries, and, of course, espresso. Nothing you can make a meal out of. Inside there's dark brown wood and a couple of small tables. Famed owner, Tonino Strumia, is a local character and can't stop talking - or stop offering you samples of sweets to try. Using a two-group Faema, they serve espresso with a tiger striped/spotted crema of modest thickness. It has a bold, pungent (cloves, thyme), concentrated flavor.
