This country restaurant in downtown Healdsburg is owned and operated by Jil Hales and her son, Geoffrey, and they are fantastic hosts - not to mention great in the kitchen. With a modern (and at night: painfully hip) bar space with high ceilings, and a decorated dining garden in back, it's a great space. They have a two-group Grimac La Valentina La Vittoria at the bar, supplied by Petaluma's Dolce Neve. Phil Anacker of nearby Flying Goat Coffee supplies them with a custom blend. They are also hooked up with three hot water sources and offer individual French presses. They serve espresso with an even, full medium brown layer of crema in a Bodum glass cup. Originally, the body was lighter than the crema suggested. But more recently they started serving more measured shot sizes, resuling in more potent cups with a flavor of muted pungency and mild spices. They have definitely improved their espresso trade and now represent a more elite class of restaurant espresso in the Bay Area.
