|Sister to the 10-year-old location at Mission & 21st Sts., this newer location has a tight downstairs space and additional seating upstairs. Using a two-group Faema E91 Ambassador, they pull espresso shots with barely a whisp of medium brown crema. What partially saves it is the modest shot size - which keeps it from being watery. Still, the Martha & Brothers beans here come through - leaving the coffee with a bold, harsh and somewhat bitter tobacco flavor. (The Latin feel of the place goes down to their coffee supplier, though.) Served in mismatched ceramics.
