|Relocated years ago from its Civic Center location, this vegetarian/vegan restaurant shares an entryway with the Hotel California. Inside there is a large center bar, high ceilings, dark wood walls, many indoor tables in a large dining area, are more crocheted hats per capita than you'll find in any SF restaurant. Using a chrome, one-group Astra Pourover machine at the bar, they serve a modestly sized espresso with a bewildering lemon rind on the side (in their dingy old Buffalo china). It has a medium brown, relatively thin crema with just a hint of creaminess on the edges. Flavorwise, it's a mild pepper, but it's also a bit watery despite its proper size. They use Taylor Maid Farms teas, but yet they chose the consistenty underwhelming Equator Estate Coffees for their espresso.
