|A popular French bistro in the Inner Richmond. White tablecloths, French accents, and food that - while good - seems rough around the edges for SF bistro standards. Using a two-group Conti Essika SK/2 at bar, they pull espresso shots with a thin, blonde crema. It's poured to a rather high volume and tastes of a drowned ashiness in the classically French style. When I asked the staff about their coffee, asking if it was Moschetti (the machine was a giveaway), they first responded with, "Oh, it's a French roast with robusta...", etc. Finally, the third person to answer me confessed what I suspected all along: the coffee is not from France but rather Vallejo.
