|This dark, split level bar and restaurant resides in an old brick building in the SOMA club district. Using a single-group La Pavoni Pub EM line machine at the bar, they often pull shots with no crema -- though the waiter at least acknowledged this as a problem and apologized before serving it. Still, they apparently change around their bean suppliers a bit, and for the review they were using beans from Costco. (At least the waiter was honest.) The resulting shot was actually salvaged somewhat, given all the odds against it. It had an average body, some brightness that came through, and a flavor of strong tobacco without being ashy.
