Andrew Barnett (widely considered a great roaster, the best judge at barista championships, and a great guy) ran this small boutique roastery. They emphasized a number of high quality single origin coffees (many Cup of Excellence winners) and blends (their Northern and Southern Italian Espresso roasts for example). As a small outfit, they have ever held only a few accounts in SF.
By 2009, Ecco Caffè was purchased by Intelligentsia Coffee & Tea. There were reportedly plans to build a roasting facility with the Ecco name in SF's Potrero Hill, but those rumors vanished in 2012 when it was revealed that Ecco would be named "Intelligentsia San Francisco".
