A relatively new, neighborhood, corner café on the outskirts of Noe Valley. Inside they have a large bookshelf of free reading material, Internet access, and several indoor tables with laptop users strewn about. Mike McLaughlin himself apparently assisted with their house blend of an Italian and French roast for their coffee, resulting in a strong cup without a nasty aftertaste. The serve espresso very full in a larger cup from a new, two-group Astoria that the owner swears by. The resulting espresso has a lighter, mottled crema with an obvious heat spot. A bolder flavor of tobacco, tar, and pepper.
