Review
At the front end of the UN Plaza as you exit the Civic Center BART station, you'll encounter this kiosk of a café run by friendly Asian woman (whom others somehow think is very unfriendly). This is really little more than a convenience store on what has been an on-again-off-again homeless strip, but it's been around for over 30 years on this spot. There's no seating and plenty of pigeons, and questionable signs posted like, "No Fruit Washing Service". Using a two-group La Carimali (which has been reduced to a single group of service), they produce a full paper cup of espresso with no crema. Yep, the classic big cup o' black. So naturally, it's ashy. The kind of espresso you'd make if you haven't cleaned or tuned your equipment in 30 years.
