French bistro near Laguna Honda hospital. Limited outdoor table seating. Neon orange glow at the entrance gives way to two floors of brightly colored solids. Big on tarts (they have five kinds of chocolate tarts alone). Barista grinds beans ahead of time, and they let the espresso sit at the counter after brewing. Served with a thinner light-to-medium brown crema in a full and over-extracted cup. Very restaurant-like, with a flavor of pepper and spice that's slightly more interesting than drip coffee, but it can run very ashy at times. I suppose they score points for authentically recreating many the bad things the French do to coffee.
