Near USF, this typical colored-chalk-menu café offers espresso, smoothies, juices, salads, sandwiches, breakfast, and a happy hour with pints of beer on tap. Clean interior of exposed blonde wood - with stools, many larger tables, window counter seating, and skylights. Out on the sidewalk there's a bench for sipping in the wind and fog. The espresso here was once pretty poor, but it has since improved. Using a two-group La San Marco, they pull shots with a adequate layer of medium to lighter brown crema. More than their glorified drip coffee in the past, often the cup now has an adequate body and a pungency to the flavor to distinguish it from the usual mild spice and pepper routine.
