Review
This hipper, more casual offshoot of the team behind Acquerello restaurant opened in Nob Hill in late 2013. The vibe is more of a dark bar with upscale (and pricey) menu offerings. The food is eclectic, flavorful and a bit overpriced. In front there are large glass windows that curve around the Washington St. corner. Inside there's a long, mirrored bar with shelves stocked with a great collection of alcoholic concoctions. There's plenty of diner seating inside among smaller tables and more spacious booths. At the end of the bar is a two-group Nuova Simonelli Aurelia II and its glowing wonderment. From it and the Four Barrel beans they proudly announce, they pull shots with a textured but thin medium-to-darker-brown crema. It has a surprisingly full body with a syrupy consistency - quite a shock for Four Barrel beans. Flavorwise, it expresses a good balance between an edge of Four Barrel acidic brightness and a denser body-friendly shot. Served in classic brown cups that look like Nuova Points but are really of an unknown, mock pedigree.
