Review
This small wooden kiosk/stand sits in the rear lobby of the 600 Townsend building. They have no seating nearby, although there is patio seating outside behind the building/security desk. They serve salads, sliced deli meats, and coffee - and not too much else. They say they "roast their own", but it's really just a custom order from the cheap-and-lowdown America's Best Coffee. Using a two-group Astoria machine, they pull slightly large shots with mottled medium and light brown crema with a white heat dot. At first, their espresso tastes more like the paper cup it's served in than anything else, despite a healthy looking crema. The body is light, but not watery. However, there is a pungent flavor in the cup as you drink closer to the bottom. Otherwise, the shots here are mostly lacking.
