This outlet of a small Bay Area high-end Indian restaurant chain has two levels: a modern upstairs bar, and a plush downstairs dining area. But with all Indian restaurants in the area, the lunch buffet stereotype is observed. Entering the kitchen on the lower level, they user a single-group Mr. Espresso-supplied Faema E98 A/1 to pull shots from Mr. Espresso pods. The resulting shot has a thin film of a rather whitish crema, poured somewhat high in a Syracuse bone china cup. Because of its size, it's a bit watery. But worse, the shot flavor betrays the age of the coffee - and the preparation method. It tastes like stale, pre-ground coffee packed in an espresso pod.
