In the GGU Student Services Center, near Ecker Square, the proprietors of Neetos Cafe opened this café wing of a larger bookstore in May 2008. In the Jessie St. alleyway, the space is a former 1913 warehouse originally used for manufacturing ship boilers. It's a large, modern student lounge with lamps and many café tables and some lounging chairs. With tall ceilings and flat screen TVs. Using a Schaerer Ambiente superautomatic machine, they push button brew a simple, rather flat espresso shot that is pleasantly muted and yet barely there: with a flavor of mild spice, but it's surprisingly not diluted. With a scant layer of medium-to-light brown crema. But $2 for a superautomated single shot from Peerless beans?! As with their bookstore prices, the GGU seems to cynically think their students are made of money.
